When schools are paid

School grants run on an academic year cycle. There is a new grant cycle each year.

If your school starts delivering from April 2026

You will receive an upfront payment for the summer term. The new grant will begin in September 2026, running for the full academic year 2026 to 2027.

The payment will be in late May for maintained schools, and early June for academies.
You will receive the start-up grant and daily payment for the summer term.

If your school starts delivering from September 2026

You will receive the start-up grant and the upfront daily payment for the autumn term, in late October 2026 for maintained schools or early November 2026 for academies.

The per-pupil payments for autumn term and the upfront daily payment for spring, will be paid in late February or early March 2027.

The per-pupil payments for the spring term, and the daily payment for the summer term, will be paid in late May or early June 2027.
